Dr. William R. Kent D.D.S
Graduated with honours from Faculty of Dentistry University of Toronto. Dr. Kent has over twenty years of General Practice and ten years of special interest in office full general anaesthesia for needle phobic and challenged children and adults utilizing specialist M.D. Anaesthetists.
Dr. Kent is an active member of Canadian Dental Association and Ontario Dental Association and a sponsor of several Foster Children in Third World Nations.
Dr. Shawn Young PER
A graduate of Boston University, DMP (1991), MSD, CAGS,(Perio) (1995), Dr. Shawn Young is a Periodontist who has been practicing in Durham Region for over a decade. Dr. Young focuses his practice on non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy. Dr. Young is a former Associate in Dentistry, University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry where he was a part-time Clinical Instructor with the Department of Periodontology. Dr. Young is an active Member of the Ontario Dental Association and an International Member of the American Academy of Periodontology.
Dr. Ross Tam
During his undergraduate studies, which began in 2000, Dr. Tam studied and conducted research in Molecular Genetics and Biology. In 2003-2007, he completed his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery at University of Toronto. Other than an education inside the dental school, he was fortunate enough to be mentored by specialists (including oral surgeon and orthodontist) and a few general dentists, who focused mostly on general and cosmetic dentistry, in their private offices. Shortly after graduation, Dr. Tam travelled 500km north of Toronto to an under-served area to replace an ill dentist for 2 months. During that time, he performed a large quantity and wide range of dentistry (such as fillings, root canal treatments, crowns, bridges and surgical extraction cases). After that 2 months, he decided to move back and work closer to Toronto, where his family lives. Dr. Tam focuses on family and general dentistry, and enjoys working with both children and adults. He always try to make sure his patients get their dental work done as comfortable as possible, while producing high quality work. And he is more than happy to answer any questions that are on his patient's minds. Dr. Tam enjoys hiking and fishing when he is not working.
Dental Assistants:
The dental assistants working alongside the dentists at Dr. Kent & Associates prepare patients for procedures and ensure their comfort. They are responsible for sterilizing all instruments and equipment. The assistants also do many in-office lab procedure, including creating models, and whitening treatments.
Administration:
The administration staff will ensure that a visit to Dr. Kent & Associates is pleasant and effortless for the client. The welcoming and friendly office staff is happy to interpret dental insurance policies, process insurance claims, and set-up payment plans to suite their patients. They also encourage booking your next dental appointment before leaving the office to guarantee availability.
